Design Association (IIDA), as well as being certified by the National council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), Hughes has been recognized by her
peers for her talent and professionalism in the design field. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's college and is a graduate of West Virginia University and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She is a past President of ASID, Pennsylvania West Chapter.
